Regulation:
The Australian Gas Association specifies that the surface temperature of the combustible surface does not exceed 50ºC above ambient. The fixing of 5mm thick ceramic tiles to the surface or attaching fire resistant material to the surface and covering with stainless steel with a minimum thickness of 0.04mm will satisfy this requirement.

Special board is available and should be fixed to the splashback if the hot plate is a gas one.
