QASAIR Rangehoods are made from Stainless
Steel Type 304. This type accounts for more than 50% of all
Stainless Steel products.
Chances are that your sink, saucepans and cutlery are all
made from Type 304 and if you look on the back of your cutlery
you will see the tell tale 18/8 or 18/10. These figures represent
18% chromium and 8 or 10% nickel in the mix.
The steel becomes stainless by the chromium oxidising in
the open air to form a protective coating of chromium oxide.
This coating could be upset by the application of salt, lemon
juice, tomato sauce, mayonnaise or anything that has a preservative
in it. Sometimes if your cutlery is in a dishwasher then the
coating will be attacked and rust marks will appear. The way
to remove these marks is to wash the cutlery and then polish
it with a dry cloth and leave it to stand in the open air,
then the chromium will oxide again to form the protective
coat.
QASAIR Rangehoods do not come in contact with corrosive substances
and always look pristine.
